Mariska Hargitay, known for her role as Olivia Benson on Law & Order: SVU, has three children with her husband Peter Hermann. Their first son, August Miklos Friedrich Hermann, was born on June 28, 2007. August is currently 15 years old and often visits his mother on the set of SVU.
The couple then adopted their daughter, Amaya Josephine Hermann, in 2011. Amaya, now 12 years old, is a huge Taylor Swift fan and the actress brought her to one of Swift's concerts in Nashville.
Shortly after adopting Amaya, Hargitay and Hermann were offered the opportunity to adopt a baby boy. They named him Andrew Nicholas Hermann.
Andrew was born premature and required special care due to respiratory and reflux issues. Despite the challenges, they embraced the opportunity and Andrew became part of their family.
Hargitay has expressed her gratitude for her family, describing them as perfect for her. She believes that families can be made in various ways and appreciates the unique dynamics of her own family.
