Interestingly, actors like Keanu Reeves and Kevin Costner were initially considered for roles in the film but ultimately declined. Stone revealed that the sensitive subject matter of the Vietnam War may have been too much for them to handle. Despite this, Platoon went on to achieve critical acclaim, box office success, and four Academy Awards.
