Proudly featuring Jason Momoa, In The Hand Of Dante takes the lead
2024/02/07

Jason Momoa, Gerard Butler, and Oscar Isaac have been announced as the lead cast members for the upcoming crime thriller movie, In The Hand Of Dante. The news was revealed by Deadline on Monday and it was reported that Julian Schnabel would be directing the film. The project will also feature Gal Gadot and Martin Scorcese as executive producers. Isaac and Schnabel will also serve as executive producers.

In The Hand Of Dante is based on the novel of the same name by Nick Tosches, which was published in 2002. The movie will tell two interconnected stories, one set in the 14th century and the other in modern times.

The modern-day story focuses on a fictionalized version of the author who is tasked by Mafia captains to authenticate an alleged original manuscript of the Divine Comedy. However, the author steals the item and escapes from the mob with his romantic partner, Giulietta. Meanwhile, the 14th-century narrative follows the author of the Divine Comedy as he tries to complete his story after traveling to Sicily.

Schnabel first mentioned his involvement in the project during an interview with Vanity Fair Spain in September of last year. Johnny Depp was initially linked to the film, and his production company, Infinitum Nihil, purchased the rights to the book in 2008.

Although Depp was attached to one of the lead roles, he eventually stepped away from the project for unknown reasons.

Isaac, Butler, and Momoa have now signed on to appear in the film, which is currently being shot in Italy. The crew of the project has also reached an agreement with SAG-AFTRA, allowing the film to be made during the union's ongoing strike. The release date for In The Hand Of Dante has not yet been announced.
