Kurtley Beale trial: woman invented sexual assault allegations to gain sympathy from fiance, court told
2024/02/08

Kurtley Beale's attorney claimed in court that his alleged rape victim fabricated the accusations to gain sympathy from her fiancé. Margaret Cunneen SC, during her closing argument on Thursday, suggested that the woman manipulated the circumstances of the night to portray herself as a victim. Beale, facing charges of sexual intercourse without consent and sexual touching, has pleaded not guilty. The woman alleges that Beale touched her inappropriately and forced her into oral sex in a toilet stall. Cunneen highlighted text messages between the woman and her fiancé during the trial, questioning their trust issues. The defence's closing statements are ongoing.
