Former Wallabies coach Eddie Jones was not invited to Australian Rugby's awards ceremony in Sydney, where Rob Valetini was named the 13th John Eales Medallist as the best Wallabies player. Valetini was one of the few bright spots in a disappointing year for the Wallabies, who won only two out of nine Tests. Valetini, who played in all nine matches, expressed gratitude for the award. Eva Karpani received the 2023 Wallaroos player of the year award for her breakout performance. Maddison Levi, Henry Paterson, Fraser McReight, Cecilia Smith, and Carys Dallinger also received awards.
