Actor Alan Ritchson recently shared his harrowing experience of being sexually assaulted during a photoshoot, leading to his decision to leave the modeling industry. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ritchson, known for his role in Prime Video's "Reacher," described the modeling industry as "legalized sex trafficking," highlighting the lack of regulation and prevalence of exploitation.
Ritchson recounted being promised a lucrative campaign by a famous photographer, only to be sexually assaulted during the shoot. Despite confronting his agent about the incident, he ultimately quit the industry, marking the end of his modeling career.
In addition to his traumatic experience in the industry, Ritchson also disclosed a suicide attempt in 2019, where he was able to save himself with the help of a vision of his three sons urging him to live.
Ritchson's candid revelations shed light on the dark side of the entertainment industry and serve as a reminder of the importance of mental health support services like the National Sexual Assault Telephone Hotline.
