Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo Battling Over Neptunes Trademark
2024/04/01

Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo of The Neptunes are currently embroiled in a legal battle over the use of the group's name. The dispute arose when Pharrell's company, PW IP Holdings, filed for a trademark for "The Neptunes" for music videos and other entertainment, a move that Chad opposed. According to court documents, Chad's attorney accused Pharrell of committing fraud by excluding his client's name from the filing without consent.

Despite their massive success together, with hits for artists like Jay-Z, Britney Spears, and Justin Timberlake, it seems that the relationship between Pharrell and Chad has soured.

While Pharrell's team claims they made efforts to reach out to Chad, it appears that communication between the two has broken down.

The duo's output slowed when Pharrell pursued a solo career, but their legacy was recognized with an induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2022. It's a disappointing turn of events for fans who had hoped the iconic duo would be able to resolve their differences amicably.
