Charithra Chandran, best known for her role as Edwina Sharma in the popular series "Bridgerton," is making her West End debut in a one-woman show. The talented actress will be performing in "Instructions for a Teenage Armageddon" at London's Garrick Theatre. The play, which originally premiered at the Southwark Playhouse in 2022, revolves around a 17-year-old girl who joins a scout group after the tragic death of her sister. Tickets for the show can be purchased from outlets such as London Theatre Direct and TodayTix.
The official synopsis of the play gives a glimpse into its storyline: "After her sister's untimely death by a Yorkshire Pudding, a funny teenage misfit begrudgingly joins a flailing scout group to help her navigate the kicks and punches of adolescence with varying degrees of success. Instructions for a Teenage Armageddon is a rollercoaster ride through youth. Whether you are a young person, know a young person, or simply were a young person once – it's time to rip up the rule book and reconnect with your younger self."
"Instructions for a Teenage Armageddon" is written by Rosie Day, a multi-talented actress known for her role in "Outlander," who also released a novel with the same name in 2021. Georgie Staight will be directing the play, and Katy Galloway Productions is producing it.
The much-anticipated production is set to open on March 17 and will run for six weeks until April 28. Public booking for tickets opened on January 19, with prices starting at £25.
Additionally, Chandran will be starring in the upcoming TV drama "Arzu," where she will portray a young heiress who leaves the scandal of Mumbai behind and enters New York City's high society. In a statement, the actress expressed her excitement about the show, saying, "I'm delighted to be part of a show that is full of glamour, romance, and drama that also fearlessly touches on societal issues. It has been a dream working with Blink49 and Unicorn Island Productions, as well as being reunited with Geetika Lizardi, the Bridgerton screenwriter, on this. I'm excited for the world to see it."
Fans of Chandran and theater enthusiasts can catch "Instructions for a Teenage Armageddon" during its limited run at London's Garrick Theatre starting from March 17. Tickets are currently on sale. In the meantime, viewers can enjoy watching seasons 1 and 2 of "Bridgerton" and "Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story" on Netflix. Season 3 is expected to premiere later this year.
