Data Reveals Pacific Northwest Is Where To Find The Single Cat Dads
2024/02/12

According to market research company Nielsen, the Pacific Northwest is the best place to find single cat dads. Seattle and Portland have the highest percentage of unmarried men who own cats. In Seattle, around 24% of the 725,000 single men own cats, while in Portland, it's just over 31%. Residents believe these high numbers are because the Pacific Northwest is a progressive region where attitudes towards men owning cats are more accepting. The area also has a large LGBT population, and it seems that gay men are more likely to own cats. Interestingly, the data also shows that men in the Pacific Northwest love their dogs too.

The percentage of single men with cats and dogs in the cities is almost equal, but cat ownership takes a slight edge in Portland. In contrast, the South has a lower percentage of single men with cats, with Miami at 11% and Orlando favoring dogs by a margin of twenty percent. The difference in weather could be a factor, as the wet season in the Pacific Northwest is more suitable for cat cuddling than walking a dog in the rain.
