Activist Climber Scales The Sphere in Las Vegas
2024/02/07

In a surprising turn of events, a daring activist-climber caused a stir in Las Vegas on Wednesday as he scaled the towering 367-foot-tall structure known as The Sphere. Videos of the climber, Maison Des Champs, walking around the top of the city's newest concert venue quickly circulated online, and Des Champs himself confirmed his feat on Instagram. He revealed that the purpose of his climb was to raise funds for a homeless woman and her unborn child, urging his 273k followers to donate to the cause. According to Tim Clement, the outreach director for Survivors of The Abortion Holocaust, Des Champs was detained by authorities after descending from The Sphere.

This is not the first time Maison has made headlines for such stunts, as he previously climbed the Chase Tower in Phoenix during Super Bowl week to protest abortion, and also pulled off a similar act in San Francisco. Authorities have temporarily closed nearby streets and detained members of Des Champs' activist group. The upcoming U2 concert scheduled to take place in The Sphere remains uncertain, as it is unclear whether today's incident will affect the show.
