Usher made quite the fashion statement at the Super Bowl with his futuristic Air Jordan 4 sneakers, which resembled something out of the movie "Space Jam". However, this flashy addition to his wardrobe was not without its obstacles. Just 48 hours before Usher was set to take the stage, Dominic "The Surgeon" Ciambrone had to step in to save the day.
Due to some delays related to Lunar New Year, Usher was only given one prototype of the silver metallic sneaker by Jordan Brand. Unable to obtain the other shoe on time, Usher turned to Dominic for help. Dominic recreated all the materials of the sneakers, which featured a chrome finish atop mirrored textiles and blue accents, in under 48 hours.
He meticulously redesigned the shoe 11 times to ensure it was perfect.Inspired by Usher's universal space theme, the design of the sneakers was a collaboration between Usher and Jordan Brand. Once the sneakers were completed, Dominic handcuffed himself to the briefcase containing the coveted kicks and rushed to deliver them to Usher in Las Vegas on a last-minute flight.
The mission was a success, and Usher rocked the shiny AJ4s during his Super Bowl performance. He was joined on stage by Alicia Keys, Ludacris, Lil Jon, Jermaine Dupri, and will.i.am, creating an unforgettable moment in sneaker history.
