Toby Keith Honored At Oklahoma Sooners Men's Basketball Game After Death

Beloved country star Toby Keith was honored by his favorite basketball team, the Oklahoma Sooners, in a heartfelt tribute at Tuesday night's game. The team paid homage to Keith, who passed away on Monday after a battle with stomach cancer, by placing a guitar, a red solo cup, and an OU ball cap courtside before the game against BYU. A moment of silence was also held in Keith's memory inside the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman. The Sooners went on to deliver an impressive performance on the court, defeating BYU with a final score of 82-66. After the game, head coach Porter Moser brought a red cup to his meeting with the media and spoke kind words about Keith.

Following Moser's lead, the entire team raised a cup high in Keith's honor in the locker room. Throughout his life, Keith had been a dedicated supporter of the Sooners, attending numerous sporting events at the school. The university released a statement expressing gratitude for Keith's unwavering support, generosity, and numerous joyful memories created in Oklahoma and around the world.
