“We Didn’t Need a Story”: Mark Jackson Outlines Pat Riley’s Fatal Flaw Against Michael Jordan’s Bulls Ahead of Game 7 of the 1992 ECSF
2024/03/30

Throughout the 1990s, the Chicago Bulls never played a Game 7 in the NBA Finals during their six title-winning seasons. However, in the Eastern Conference playoffs, three teams managed to push them to a Game 7. In 1990, the Detroit Pistons defeated the Bulls in the Conference finals, their last playoff series loss before the Bulls' three consecutive titles from 1991 to 1993. Conversely, the New York Knicks almost thwarted the Bulls' dominance in 1992 but fell short in Game 7 due to a motivational misstep from coach Pat Riley, according to former player Mark Jackson.
