2024/02/07

Peter de Villiers, the former Springbok head coach turned politician, has been suspended by his political party in South Africa following sexual allegations made against him. The 66-year-old was suspended from the GOOD party after allegedly making sexual advances towards a party member. The incident was reported to the South African Police Service, who lodged a complaint against De Villiers. The party's secretary-general confirmed the suspension, stating that it did not imply guilt but reflected the seriousness of the allegations. De Villiers joined the GOOD party as a mayoral candidate in November 2021 and was later nominated to return to the council in January 2023. He coached South Africa from 2008 to 2011 and led the team to various victories.
