R&B and hip-hop producer T-Pain has revealed that he has been excluded from the country music genre despite writing successful country songs. In a TikTok video, T-Pain stated that "good music is good music" regardless of genre and that he has incorporated country and gospel music's harmonies into his work. While T-Pain did not specify which songs he wrote, he mentioned collaborating with country artists including Taylor Swift and Luke Bryan during his time living in Nashville. However, he noted that some artists preferred not to be associated with his songwriting due to the racism he faced afterwards. Although the country music landscape has made some progress in the inclusion of black artists in recent years, the disparity between white and black artists remains wide. T-Pain, while no longer active in the genre, continues to support country artists.
