According to local reporter Andy Slater, Highsmith hit a man who was assisting another driver stuck in the middle of the road. The man who was struck remains in critical condition. The Miami Heat issued a statement expressing their concern for those injured in the accident. Highsmith will not play in the team's upcoming game against the San Antonio Spurs due to "personal reasons." This season, Highsmith has played in 37 games, averaging 5.8 points and 2.8 rebounds.
