Increasingly, kickers are honing their skills to land the ball on a dime from 50 meters, resulting in kicks edging closer to the touchline. Occasionally, players resort to acrobatics to keep the ball in play. This can happen in two ways: a player catches the ball off-balance, with it almost out of bounds, but manages to direct it back in play before falling out, or a player leaps out of play, flicks the ball back mid-air, and lands inside the field. However, during a recent Six Nations game, a similar play by Italy's Paolo Garbisi was deemed out of bounds. Referee Angus Gardner enforced the rules, emphasizing the importance of clarifying such scenarios in the laws.
