Chris Stapleton's wife, Morgane, will not be by his side during his ACM Awards performance on Sunday evening (April 18). According to People.com, Morgane, had a "prior doula commitment," and will no longer appear. Instead, Miranda Lambert will take her place.
"Due to her prior doula commitment, Morgane Stapleton is unable to join Chris Stapleton at the Bluebird as scheduled," the ACM statement to PEOPLE read. "Miranda Lambert will instead take the Bluebird stage with Chris tonight for 'Maggie's Song.'"Stapleton will perform "Maggie's Song," a track that he previously labeled his "most personal song" to date.
The song is a tribute to his beloved dog, Maggie, who passed away in 2019."She deserved a tribute of a song," Stapleton explained ahead of his performance. "Now, whether or not I did her justice in the song, I don't know, but she was a dog that deserved a song so I wrote a song about her the day after she died."Lambert is a longtime dog lover and will undoubtedly do the song justice on stage alongside Stapleton.
